How to plan your social media content like a pro

plan your social media content like a pro

Your social media strategy doesn’t have to be complicated.

Follow this simple structure to keep your social media content easy and most importantly focused on your audience and not on your business.

Begging your followers to buy your products over and over is boring and frankly not social at all.

The most important part of building your social media strategy is to ensure you balance your content in favour of what will be enjoyable and what will encourage social interaction from your audience. Yes, that’s right… IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU.

But when it comes to structure what is important is identifying your own strengths and weaknesses. If you’re a chatterbox who loves to document life on the fly… then Instagram and stories will be your jam. If you’re a bit more analytical and want to plan everything in advance, then collecting content when you come across it and then scheduling it in advance each month will probably work best for you.

A great social media strategy includes a mix of content that aims to engage and encourage interaction and generally it’s the mix part that people get stuck with so here is my simple social media content strategy structure - yes it spells PEERS and yes I am quite proud of that fact.

Simple Social Media Content Strategy

Promotions - sales posts, sales, free shipping, BOGOF (buy one get one xx% off), giveaways

Educate - educational, informative content about topics your audience will be interested that is not necessarily related to your product or service

Entertain - memes, quotes, content that is quick to consume, easily shared and often prompts an instant reaction from your audience

Review - share testimonials or reviews.. while self promotion can get old for your followers, testimonials and reviews repurposed into social media content lends credibility to your business

Share - user generated content is the gift that keeps on giving. If your followers aren’t producing the kind of high quality content you want on your Instagram feed, instead use their content in your Story or Facebook where the visual impact is less important

Don’t over think your social media strategy, it is better to post consistently than not to post at all!
