How to setup your new Facebook Sales Channel for Shopify

What is the new Facebook Sales Channel on Shopify?

Shopify recently rolled out a brand new sales Facebook channel that allows stores to manage their Facebook (and essentially Instagram as well) integration inside Shopify rather than over on Facebook. But what does that actually mean?

Why do I need Shopify’s new Facebook Sales Channel?

Under the old Facebook Shop sales channel, if products were rejected or violated terms of service, those notifications only sat inside Facebook’s catalogue manager. Under the new Facebook Sales Channel products are flagged inside Shopify instead which allows you to easily edit product descriptions to make products compliant (where you can!).

This change also better aligns Instagram Shopping with Facebook….. a lot of users were pretty confused under the old system when they experienced issues with Instagram Shopping and product tagging to have to jump over to Facebook’s Catalogue Manager to sort their Instagram issues. Under the new sales channel, this is all managed from a single dashboard inside Shopify.

But what about product tagging on Instagram?

Make sure you take note of your Catalogue name, jump onto Instagram, head into the Shopping menu in your account settings on your device and see which catalogue you are using - often we end up with multiple catalogues and you will want to use the one you have setup in the Facebook Sales Channel.
